Hi, I’m Melanie. I’m a lifelong nature and animal lover, I have 6 pets (not including my worm farm of 500+ worm babies), and I love exploring sustainable solutions to climate change and finding easy ways to make our planet a better place. A little background, I’m a gymnastics coach, a vegetarian, a Facilitator for the Talk About Trees Program, and an ex-student helicopter pilot. Growing up, one of the biggest things that my parents instilled in me and my brothers was that we needed to be the change we wanted to see in the world. So as a little girl, I was always coming up with big ideas and looking for ways that I could improve the world around me. Unfortunately, being a little girl in a big world isn’t easy. I felt constantly underestimated and discouraged by people who told me that I was too small and my dreams were too big. Eventually, I started to believe the voices. I gave up on dreaming big and on trying to make a difference; I felt like a small piece of sand on a large beach. How could I make a difference? Then, at the age of 15, I joined a local pageant, which was a preliminary to Miss Oregon. I learned about the Miss Oregon and Miss America Brands and how they encourage young women to get out of their comfort zones and into their communities to serve. My experiences in those programs showed me that we are not grains of sand on a beach. Were small seeds with an endless potential for growth given the right opportunities and resources. This is what inspired me to create Little Composters. Many people, just like me, don’t realize the impact they can have. They think making a difference is too difficult, too complex, or too time-consuming. It’s actually not! Climate Change and pollution are massive and complex problems, but they don’t have to have massive or complex solutions. With just a little bit of collective effort, together we can make a world of difference.

Thanks for visiting and supporting my page. I hope you found something helpful, insightful, or inspiring and can find small ways to change the world in your own life. Dream big, you got this!
