Welcome to the Little Composters community!

I’m so glad you’re here! Little Composters is a unique environmental education project designed to help elementary-age children fall in love with the Earth, gain a conceptual understanding of the environment, learn the basic concepts of stewardship, and hopefully ignite a spark of interest and compassion for our wonderful planet. We do this through composting!

This space and these resources were created with parents, teachers, and early childhood educators in mind. Whether you’re introducing composting at home or in the classroom, I’ve designed a plethora of simple, engaging resources to make it easy, fun, and meaningful for little learners.

Here’s what you’ll find here:

A Children’s Book
An original compost-themed story that introduces young children to the magic of food scraps, worms, and soil. This book helps kids understand where their waste goes — and how they can help the Earth by turning it into something beautiful.

A Classroom Composting Program
A complete composting Program designed for ages 3-9, featuring hands-on activities, sorting games, crafts, vocabulary, and a compost starter guide for teachers. Whether you have 10 minutes or an hour, this flexible and easily adaptable classroom guide makes the concept of composting simple to teach.

A Composting Lesson Video
A short and engaging classroom-style video lesson that showcases how I like to introduce composting to students. Perfect for teachers who want support leading the lesson — or for kids to watch at home as part of their eco-learning adventure. We know that teaching is tough, and making a huge mess with dirt and worms in the classroom isn’t for everyone. So for those days when you need a lesson with a little less stress and way less mess, this video lesson is a perfect alternative. So you can sit back, relax, and push play.

Thank you for joining this mission to grow green leaders from the ground up. Together, we can teach kids that even the smallest hands can make a big difference for the planet.

Stay tuned for updates, tips, resources, and exciting community projects!
